We Start treating patients in ViheaThom Methodist church in Kampong Cham today.
It took us 3 hours to get to Kampong Cham from Phnom Penh. The road is better paved but still part of it very rough and bumpy. We stopped by the rest area where there are many booths selling local delicacies like deep fry black spiders and crickets. Some of our team members are very bold and adventurous like Dr. Denney Fang. He ate two spiders without frowning .
It’s like coming home for some team members to see the familiar place and people. They jokingly warn the other members that they may fall in love with Cambodia and the medical team and eventually move here for long term service like brother Hanc Sing .( He first came to Cambodia in 2007 with the team and is now our team leader. He moved to Phnom Penh as CMI missionary for the “Rapha” project in Nov 16/2014.)
We just treated the villagers from 2:00 pm till 4:30 pm but waiting for the pharmacy to prepare the medicines till 6:00 pm.
We treated 156 people and gave away 51 pairs of glasses the first day. Thank God for a good start.

We started out very early this morning leaving the hotel at 5:45am.
We had morning devotion and I shared from Matt 9:35-38 about our Lord Jesus being our example in His incarnation, humility, taking initiative to reach people everywhere, and His wholistic care and salvation for us human being.( Teaching, Sharing the Gospel and Healing the sick.)
The clinic started from 8:00 on . It went smoothly. The weather is nice. Look forward to a blessed and fruitful day ahead.(9:45am)
Due to miscommunication, the villagers thought that we will treat them in the afternoon so fewer people came this morning. We see the patients till 10:30 then very little came. It truly takes a lot of good coordination to have an effective team.(11:10)
After lunch, Hanc took the new members to the big man made lake down the road where about 200000 people were drown in 1975-1979.
Difficult to imagine how a traditional Buddhist country which emphasizes mercy, good works can be like this.
May God help Christians and churches in Cambodia to be true Salt and Light to this country.
Thank God for giving us the privilege to serve: Pediatric 51,Dentistry 97
General Med 124, Acupuncture 46. Total : 318
Gave away 58 pairs of glasses.
Please pray for our new adventure tomorrow that we are going to a village in the town of Kampong Cham which has many Muslims. We will work with the local government and treating the villagers at their “health center”.
In Christ, Jonathan Chiu
