Dear All:
It’s half way through of this Medical Mission. Everything warms up today. We had warmer weather and the villagers turned up much more than yesterday totaling 249: 128–general,37–pediatric,47–dental,37–acupuncture.
It took longer time for dentistry and acupuncture. Thank God we had a sister from China who specialized in acupuncture and also use the heat treatment from burning herb medicine. The ladies appreciated her very much and some of our team members who treated by her said that it’s better than just acupuncture alone.
We took those team members who joined the first time to the man-made lake at the end of the dirt road of the villages. We’re welcomed by a group of water buffaloes. The scene is beautiful but the story is very sad.During the Red-khmer time, they drove 200000 people to dig out this lake and eventually killed them all here. Thank God for leading us to serve and share God’s love with the people that were hurt so much. We firmly believe that only God and His love can heal their wounds.
We missed some of the old villagers not knowing what happened to them but Dr. David Lee told of a touching story of a lady who came last year with 6 month’s pregnancy but very high blood pressure which should be hospitalized right away then. Dr. Lee managed to buy her 6 month’s supply of medicine. Thank God she came yesterday alive and well . She is now a member of the Viheathom Methodist church. This tells how we feel about the people here. They are not forgotten. God loves them and so do we.
Thanks for working with us in this spiritual battle.

Dear All:
We had the most pleasant weather in Kampong Cham this time. It’s not too hot and with breeze. The Viheathom Mothodist church is about 30 minutes away from town by car. So nice to be back like coming home.
Due to wrong information from the village leaders, we did not have many patients today. They told the villagers that we’ll come on 1/8-10.But that suits us well for the first day here. We expect to see more tomorrow. Even with this we still had 182 came for treatment.39–dental,87–general,17–acupuncture,39–pediatric. We are going to serve the villagers till Sunday afternoon. If we still do not have good number of people come tomorrow then we may switch to the nearby Elementary school for 1or 2 days then come back on Saturday and Sunday. Please pray with us.
Thank God that most of the team members are fine except one had a cold before coming and Mrs. Sally Huang is weak .Thank God that she still come despite of her physical limitation.
We tried something new this time. We invite the local helpers/translators and dentist assistants (15) to join our devotion and sharing time so that they can see that they are an important part of the team. Some of them are not Christian yet and we want to care for them ,not just using them . Pray that God will touch their hearts.

Dear All:
Thank God for a full but fruitful day. The early morning devotion time and the evening time have great and touching sharings from 4 team members.
We see God’s hand in leading them to join this service even with trials and difficulties. Some went through a lot of hardship to experience God’s grace and provision for her family and some with family member in depression and flooding of her house to the extent of giving up this trip. We see clearly that it’s not because we are OK that we serve but even in the midst of difficulty and trials we determine to serve. Thank God that His grace is sufficient and His power is revealed in our weakness.
We continued our service at the plywood factory from 9:00am till 4:15pm with an hour’s break for lunch and sharing the Gospel with the workers.
Our team sang a song in Cambodian,Chinese and English. The pastor from Viheathom church–Naren shared an evangelistic message in Cambodian and gave the invitation. Among the 400+ workers, almost all raised their hands to accept Christ. Praise the Lord and pray for the follow up.
Elder Samuel Cheung trained some of our team members to do the acupuncture. Dr. David Lee is one that being trained and he switched between doing acupuncture and treating the patients.Amazing!
Thank God for the 306 being treated.
197–General ,63–Dentistry,46–
acupuncture.
We will go to Viheathom tomorrow starting the clinic in the church. Covet your prayers.

Dear All:
With joy and excitement the 2012 Cambodia Medical Mission team gather together tonight in PNH. It’s so great to see the old members and welcome the new members. Every one actually paid a great price of their time and money as they paid for their own airfare and also the fees for the team.
We joined hands together and pray. With the heart to serve and touching the people for Christ, also to serve them as serving Jesus Christ.
We are going to Kampong Cham ,a town about 100 km to the North-East of PNH. We will start the free medical service at a plywood factory which owned by a Christian from Taiwan of 800 workers for two days then go to the Methodist church of Viheathom till Sunday afternoon. This is our 6th time going there. Last year some villager came from other village which is somewhat farther away. When asked why, the answer was “the Jesus doctors are better”. Pray that not only many will be treated and healed, more importantly that His church will be strengthened and His name glorified!
I’ll try my best to keep you informed when in Kampong Cham . Thank you for joining our service together with your faithful prayers.

Day 1 /Cambodia Medical Mission(CMM)

Dear All:
We left PNH this morning for Kampong Cham. We stop by the rest area and many of our new team members saw for the 1st time the cooked spiders and crickets…that were supposed to be delicacies for the local people. What a challenge for missionaries. Six of the village leaders joined us for lunch in KC. They smiled at us as seeing old friends.
We started our service at the plywood factory which owned by Mr. Lu ,a Christian from Taiwan. In half an hour we set up the clinic and started treating the workers. With 4 doctors, 2 acupuncturists, 4 dentists and a pharmacy, we served over 100 patients in 2 hours time. Praise God! We’re all so grateful for having the privilege to serve God and people there.
We’ll start our 2nd day tomorrow at 6:00am with devotion and testimonies. Pray that it’ll be a fruitful day for our Lord. Thank you for your prayers.

Happy New Year from JonathanChiu

Dear All:
As I am preparing to leave for Bangkok and Cambodia tonight, I feel the urge to write to you. First I want to thank all of you for your prayer support, especially some ofthe seniors who keep praying for us every day. I know God answers your prayers as I keep experiencing His working in me and through me. I just came back from San Diego from the 1st West coast CMC. God spoke to all of us powerfully through the speakers right from the 1st session. I was asked to translate for Rev. Francis Chan and Rev. Greg Ogden . Praise God for His mighty work in and through us.

I am going to spend the last day of 2011 flying over the Pacific ocean to Taipei then to Bangkok arriving BKK on 1/1 in the afternoon. What a way to start a new year!
I will be in BKK first to attend an anniversary celebration. It’s the 50th wedding anniversary of my high school teacher’s younger brother. I was invited to Taipei Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church in 1958 by teacher “Bao Chiao Ling” which leaded me to dedicating my life to the Lord in the Summer of 1960 and then the series of events that made me who I am this day. However my teacher’s younger brother had his successful business in Thailand untill several years ago dramatically turned to the Lord. Since then he became my dear respected uncle in Bangkok. I look forward to being with them and share with them God’s blessing. CMi is also having our 2nd Missionaries’ conference in BKK till 1/4. We thank God for serving Him together and want to build closer fellowship as a team.
From 1/4 till 1/17 I will be in Cambodia for CMI’s 6th Medical service in Kampong Cham area. God led us to start this “love -in-action” mission work in 2007. Because of the service, CMI’s International board recently decided to launch a long term ministry there. With God’s help and the Chinese churches’ working together, we plan to start a Nursing Institute to train up local nurses and medical personels and eventually develope into Medical college– Christian Clinic/hospital–Christian University. It’s obvious that we can’t, but with God nothing is impossible!
So, we invite you to join us to serve the Cambodians and beyond. Please pray for/with us.

I will try my best to keep you informed. But with the recent incident ( been hacked and messed up), I’ll write and send to Jeannie first and have her forward to you all.
Happy New Year!
In Christ, Jonathan chiu

on my way to HK

Dear All:
I am on my way to HK for CMI’s Int’l Board meeting from 12/6-9. Covet your prayers.
The past 12 days in TPE were full of God’s grace . The weather in TPE for the first several days were fine , warm and humid. I even sweated often. Its not like in Winter. The 3rd MPC of TPE went well. The messages and Missions report were encouraging and inspiring. Thanks to all the churches and mission organizations that worked hard together. But obviously, we need to pray more harder for the churches as a whole to be awakened to see and accept God’s Mission.
I enjoyed very much meeting coworkers and brothers and sisters of the Taipei Tabernacle church. I celebrated my 69 birthday with some of them without Jeannie.
I need to rush to the gate for boarding . Talk to you when I get to HK.

Praise God and Thank you

Dear All:
After over a week’s busy but very blessed conference in
Bali and 3 days ministry in Bandung, finally we got a
break and now in Jakarta at the Indonesian Chinese
churches’ association head- quarter waiting to go to Hong
Kong tomorrow early in the morning.
God answered all your prayers for the conference and
for my translating for Dr. Chris Wright. Besides a few
words that I missed, over all the sessions with Dr. wright
went very well. God spoke through him His message and
mission for all of us clearly and powerfully. Thank you again
for your love and faithful support.
Jeannie was OK even had better sleeping than at home.
She missed our grand sons so much but had difficulties in
connecting to Christine or Pauline.
After CCOWE in Bali, we were assigned to go to Bandung
for 9/19 evening’s “CCOWE night”. We are so happy to revisit
Bandung which we visited 9 years ago before we started with CMI for Mission work. The churches united together and
had a beautiful meeting last night. They had a young
peoples’ choir of over 200 members and a lady’s choir.
Jonathan shared the message ” United in one accord to
spread the Gospel worldwide”. Praise God, about some 30
responded to the call.
We feel so grateful and humbled by God’s mercy and grace.
Will keep you informed later.

CCOWE comference

Dear All:
In 7 hours later Jeannie and I will take the mid-night flight from LAX to Bali, Indonesia by way of Taipei.
We thank God for the opportunity to attend the 8th CCOWE conference and serve as interpreter for the morning bible study speaker, Dr. Christopher Wright. Jonathan covet your prayers that he can understand the message and find the right words to pass on to the Chinese speaking audience. We will also meet many old friends and coworkers as well as some of CMI’s missionaries. Do pray for Rev. Morley lee specially as he will step down and pass on the baton to Rev. Joshua Tan as CCCOWE’s general secretary.
After the conference, CCCOWE arranges some of us to visit different cities to hold special meeting for CCOWE movement. Jonathan was assigned the city of Bandung which we visited 9 years ago. Its good to be there to meet with the churches and friends.
We will go to Hong kong and celebrate the 100th birthday of Jeannie’s 3rd aunt from her father’s side on 9/22 then go to Taipei.
Jeannie is going to have her birthday there on 10/2 and Jonathan will meet with CMI/TPE board members to share with them CMI’s field needs and opportunities. Jonathan will also officiate our God-son’s wedding on 10/10. The time in TPE will be happy, busy and fun.
While excited about the upcoming trip, we appreciate your prayers for Jeannie as she is having difficulty moving around. We ordered wheel chair service for her but the long hours in the air will be very tough for her. Thanks. God bless you all.
In Christ, Jonathan & Jeannie chiu
